Classic Boogie Blues - Lesson Notes
Status Quo have made this style their own. It's a great technique that sounds rich to the ear and feels great to play with a bit of practice.
One point to note is that if this is a new technique you should prepare yourself for this lesson series with some gentle stretches and warm-up exercises as it uses some large finger stretches. Check the 'Spider exercise' from Guitar Practiced Perfectly software.
These lessons use consistent 1/8th notes so count as (1&2&3&4&) . If you listen carefully to the video lesson you will notice that its played with a 'slightly' muted sound. Use your palm to gently clamp down on the strings near the bridge of your guitar where the strings meet the saddle. Use your ears to get the result that you want and try to use dynamics.
The chords in use are actually intervals (not fully fledged chords), they create a tight , focused sound that sound pleasing even with lots of gain.
Practice this 12 bar and enjoy!
