This is a study of a classic 12 bar blues sequence with a particular feel. It's so laid back it's almost
horizontal!. Think timeless old blues. It mixes single notes and chords. The chords sound really nice and are
very easy to play which is always a bonus. We can't think of an easier chord voicing to play the
sophisticated sounding Major 6 and dominant 9 chords that this study uses. Jimi Hendrix used this laid back
feel as a template for some of his classics, even Red House has elements of this 12 bar as does Little Red
Rooster by The Rolling Stones. So you can see the benefits of getting this to sound right.

At anytime in the 12 bar it pays to know exactly which bar you are on (i.e. bar 5). This will build a very good
knowledge of blues in general and will allow further focused development, it may even lead to you writing
your own blues classic given time!

Always try to add dynamics to blues, it goes along way. Notice how just adding a slight slide to the chords
give a very bluesy edge to the piece. Well worth spending some time on. This is how players like Angus
Young and B B King get so much from so very few notes, they make the most of what is available.

As you work through the lesson you will notice that it almost gets easier as you progress through the piece.
This is because the parts are repeated from various chords, this is common in many blues pieces. Enjoy the
lessons and check out Guitar Practiced Perfectly software to make even more of your practicing time.
